Hey, friends!
February has rolled in, and let me tell you—it’s been a soggy, humid, and weirdly warm one so far. Texas weather never fails to keep us on our toes! The rain has had me curled up at home, soaking in time with my closest people, which, honestly, has been a much-needed reset. Between the gloomy skies and everything going on in the news, I’ve been happy just staying in my little bubble.
Speaking of staying home, our teeny girl had her wisdom teeth out this week, so we’ve been in full recovery mode. She’s handled it like a champ, but let’s just say there have been plenty of soft foods, naps, and hilarious post-surgery moments. Hoping she’s back to feeling 100% soon!
On the topic of plans shifting—our spring break trip to Seattle may not be happening after all. We had a slight change of heart about flying and are now looking at something a little closer that we can drive to. Maybe something easier to manage for the moment. I still need to see my bestie, but sometimes you just have to roll with the changes and find a new adventure that fits where life is at.
On the potentially good news front, I’m hearing whispers that our insurance might finally start moving on our home repairs. That would be amazing… if they actually follow through. But my fear? By the time they get their act together, we’ll be back in hurricane season again. Thanks a lot, Hurricane Beryl. 😭 It’s been eight months now, and I’m beyond nervous about possible mold. Being highly allergic, that’s a huge concern, and moving all our animals or staying somewhere else just isn’t realistic. I’m just so ready to have our home put back together.
On a brighter note, work is starting to pick up for Preston, which is always a relief after the winter slow season. But per usual, winter had him a little stressed. To help lighten the load, I’ve been doing interviews, hoping to land something soon. Ideally, I’d love to focus solely on his and my businesses, but sometimes you just have to grab what’s in front of you and be grateful for it. Whatever is meant to be will be, and maybe something more aligned with our future plans will come later.
Speaking of the future, we’re still dreaming about moving across the country. We’re fairly certain Lilith’s first two years of college will be local, but after that? She’s ready to spread her wings, and honestly, so are we. Maybe we’ll follow where she goes, or maybe we’ll settle somewhere we’ve always wanted to be. Either way, a change of venue is calling, and I’m excited to see where life takes us. Plus, worst case? We move back. No harm in trying something new, right?
In other exciting news—our teeny girl got her learner’s permit! So, Texas roads, watch out! Now comes the real fun…teaching her how to drive. My main goal is to stay patient, be kind, and take it slow. No rush, just safe and steady. But we’re thrilled for her—this is such a big step toward independence, and I love that she’ll have the security of knowing she can get herself home or take a moment to reset in her own space if she ever needs it. That’s my hope, at least.

And last but certainly not least—it’s Super Bowl weekend! If you know me, you know I love football. My dad has always been a football fan, and in high school, I did sports medicine, which gave me a whole new level of respect for the game. Preston isn’t super into sports, so we don’t watch much during the season, but the Super Bowl? Oh, that’s a must.
And who are we rooting for? The Chiefs, of course! Preston’s family is from Kansas City, Missouri, so we have to rep. Plus, if you’ve never been to KC, you need to go—great food, fun things to do, and when it snows, the whole city looks like a storybook. It also holds a special place in our hearts because of Great Grandma Annie ❤️. We’ll be cheering on the Chiefs and thinking of her.
Alright, I better quit yapping and get back to my schoolwork. Hopefully, February is treating you all well so far. I’ll be checking in more this month since, for once, we don’t have too many irons in the fire.
Until next time—cheers, friends! Thanks for checking in on us. Wishing you all the best, always.
Now tell me—who are y’all rooting for in the Super Bowl? Drop it in the comments!
