Hey friends,

February came and went in the blink of an eye! Between celebrating Valentine’s Day and soaking up the last bits of cool weather, it was a good month. But now, here we are, staring down March, and that means spring break is right around the corner! I’m looking forward to our little staycation—nothing too crazy, but a nice break nonetheless. Do y’all have any fun plans?

Spring is usually my favorite because everything starts coming back to life—flowers blooming, grass turning green, and that feeling of fresh starts. Normally, I’d be prepping my garden, but with the remodel happening in my gardening area, I’m not sure we’ll get it planted in time. It’s a little bittersweet, but I know the end result will be worth it.

The goaties are gearing up for the fair in just a few weeks! Fingers crossed that Teeny girl can place at least in the top five. It’s such a big deal for her, and I’m just so proud of all the hard work she’s put into it. And with the Houston Rodeo kicking off soon, there are tons of great shows and events to check out. Our family loves rodeo season—it’s always such a fun time of year.

Speaking of big things, after the fair, we’ll need to get new goats for Lilith’s senior year in FFA. And in exciting news, someone donated a horse trailer to us, which means we finally have a proper way to haul the goats! There’s also a chance she could be in the jackpot for the calf scramble, and if she wins that, we’ll need to make some barn adjustments to fit both goats and a cow. It would be a huge opportunity for her, so we’re hopeful!

On another note—Teeny girl is getting ready for her driver’s license, and I’ve been stocking up on all the little safety kits, magnets, and stickers to make sure she’s fully prepped. I don’t just want her to know how to drive; I want her to know how to take care of her car, handle emergencies, and be fully confident on the road.

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it here before, but driving is a big anxiety trigger for me. Traffic, unpredictable drivers—it all sends me into a full tizzy sometimes. So, I’m taking this whole teaching thing seriously because I want to make sure she’s as prepared as possible. Confidence behind the wheel doesn’t mean knowing everything; it means being aware of all the possibilities and making smart choices.

And speaking of anxiety… for any of those who don’t know me personally, I have been diagnosed for many years now with severe anxiety. I don’t let it stop me from living my life anymore and at times it did get a little out of hand, but now I just try to approach things with a bit of a yellow light mentality—I don’t stop I just slow down, assess, and move forward cautiously. I’d love to talk more about that in a future post, but for now and more for those that don’t actually know me personally I wanted to share. Always just know that if you struggle with anxiety, you’re not alone. I’m here and am open to sharing tips and tricks that have helped me along the many years of this journey.

So, back to spring—what are y’all looking forward to most? Are you tackling spring cleaning already, getting your yards prepped, or starting gardens? If you’re a gardener, what do you love growing? I’d love to hear all about it!

Until next time yall,
Karissa
