Whew, y’all—July came in fast and left even faster. I feel like I blinked and suddenly we’re staring down the end of summer, back-to-school lists, and the beginning of something huge in our household: Lilith’s senior year.

I can’t lie—this one feels bittersweet. There’s so much joy in watching her grow into her own, but also… there’s this ache, this tug at the heart realizing this is our last “first day” of high school.
Our last time hunting down school supply sales.
Our last year packing lunches in that familiar lunchbox.
Our last year making sure her backpack is just the right one for all the stuff she probably won’t use by October.

Sure, college will come with its own “back to school” vibe—but this season right here? This is the one we’ll remember forever. We’ve got senior pictures, final FFA shows, senior prom, and all the “lasts” we’ll be soaking in together.

We’re so proud of her already. She’s worked camps, planned goals for the year, and come out of this summer stronger, wiser, and maybe just a little sassier (because that’s just how she likes to roll). We can’t wait to see how she finishes this final lap.

On my end, I’ve officially wrapped up my associate degree (!!!) and will be starting a new semester with a new school to begin the journey toward my Bachelor’s in business management. It feels both terrifying and exciting, but I’m ready—and more focused than ever.

Preston’s been busy as always. July’s rain may have slowed down the equipment for a few days, but the jobs haven’t stopped. We’re grateful for every opportunity. And who knows—you may catch me out on a job site or two in August lending a hand.

This summer had its fair share of challenges—emotionally, physically, and everything in between—but as we head into August, I feel lighter. Clearer. More hopeful.

It’s hot here in Texas (pray for us, please ), but even the heat can’t keep us from dreaming about fall. With holiday season on the horizon, we’re already talking about planning a trip to Washington for snowy adventures and ski slopes, visiting one of my dearest friends, and maybe even getting some quiet time to reflect in the mountains.

August, for us, is all about resetting. Getting the house in order. Picking out the first day of school outfit. Finalizing livestock purchases for show season. Ordering planners, setting goals, and mentally preparing for the rollercoaster of senior year. It’s wild how fast this year is flying—but we’re grateful for every moment of it.

So, friend to friend—what does August represent for you?
A fresh start? A final lap? Or just one more month of holding on to summer before the seasons shift?

Wherever this month finds you, I hope it’s with hope in your heart and a reminder that even in the chaos, there’s magic in the in-between.

Here’s to August.
Here’s to transitions.
Here’s to what’s next. ❤️
